Poetry is a literary art form expressed in meters. Poetry is to a poet what a canvas is to a painter. The poet uses words instead of paint to create images, stir feelings and emotions like joy, sorrow, anger, love, etc. Poetry has patterns, rhythm and rhyme or it can be written in prose.

Stanza, meters and feet are terms used to define structural elements of a poem. A line is called a verse. A stanza is a set amount of verses. The length of a verse is expressed in meters created by feet (syllables).
